Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Rīgas Nacionālā zooloģiskā dārza sabiedrisko attiecību prakse”. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, kāda ir sabiedrisko prakse un sabiedrisko attiecību funkcija Rīgas Nacionālajā zooloģiskajā dārza un, kā tā palīdz, zooloģiskā dārza uzdevumu īstenošanā, un mērķu sasniegšanā kā arī noskaidrot, kāda ir sabiedrisko attiecību specifika vides izglītības iestādēs. Pētījumā tika izmantota daļēji strukturētās intervijas, tiešsaistes elektroniskā aptauja un dokumentu kontentanalīze. Bakalaura darbā secināts, ka sabiedriskajām attiecībām Rīgas Nacionālajā zooloģiskajā dārzā ir ļoti liela un būtiska nozīme.

The new receptor 3,7,11,15,19,23-hexaaza-1(2,6)-pyridinacyclotetracosaphane (L1) containing a complete sequence of propylenic chains has been synthesised. The acid–base behaviour and Cu2+ and Zn2+ coordination have been analysed by potentiometric measurements in 0.15 M NaClO4 for L1 and for the related compounds 3,7,11,14,18,22-hexaaza-1(2,6)-pyridinacyclotricosaphane (L2), 3,7,10,13,16,20-hexaaza-1(2,6)-pyridinacycloheneicosaphane (L3) and 3,7,10,12,15,19-hexaaza-1(2,6)-pyridinacycloicosaphane (L4). For some years now, problems relating to gas emissions that affect climate and result from human activities have assumed a global dimension of large importance. The climate is, indeed, influenced by the concentrations of some pollutants in the atmosphere; these pollutants trap the long wave radiation emitted by the Earth and alter the energy balance, causing an accentuation of the natural greenhouse effect. UVolc: A software platform for measuring volcanic SO2 fluxes

We present here a novel stand-alone software platform, UVolc, for remotely sensed measurement of volcanic SO"2 emission rates. Such data are important diagnostics of activity conditions, with utility in forecasting measures. This code is made user friendly to enable volcanologists, who are not experts in the underlying physics of spectroscopy, to perform their own measurements. The program provides considerable reduction in errors and far greater operating flexibility than existing analogous code, which, unlike UVolc, can only interface with hardware no longer in manufacture. UVolc will be described here, including a presentation of data collected with this program in the field.

Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot atšķirības piederības izjūtai un uztvertajam sociālajam atbalstam no dažādiem sociālajiem avotiem Kamerūnas un Latvijas studentu izlasēs. Noskaidrot vai atšķiras dzīves jēgas izjūta un kurā grupā tā ir augstāka. Tajā skaitā pārbaudīt teoriju par dzīves jēgas, piederības izjūtas un uztvertā sociālā atbalsta savstarpēju korelāciju. Pētījuma kopējais dalībnieku skaits bija 121 respondents, no kuriem 69 Latvijas studenti ar vidējo vecumu 28 gadiem (M=28,09, SD=7,30) un 52 Kamerūnas studenti ar vidējo vecumu 23 gadiem (M=23,50, SD= 3,45). Amine functionalized ZrO2 nanoparticles as biocompatible and luminescent probes for ligand specific cellular imaging

Surface functionalized ZrO2 nanoparticles show strong photoluminescence and are a versatile tool for cellular targeting due to their chemical functionality. They are highly photostable, biocompatible and amenable to coupling with bioligands (e.g. secondary goat anti-rabbit antibody (GAR) and tri-phenyl phosphine (TPP)) via carbodiimide chemistry. Antibody (GAR) functionalized ZrO2 nanoparticles were used to image the nuclear protein Sirt6, whereas triphenyl phosphonium ion (TPP) functionalized ZrO2 nanoparticles specifically targeted the mitochondria. Multi-photon imaging of amine-functionalized silica nanoparticles.

A convenient and simple strategy for preparing water soluble, photoluminescent functionalized silica nanoparticles (M-dots) in the absence of fluorophores or metal doping is demonstrated. These M-dots can be used for bioimaging using one and two-photon microscopy. Because of their high photostability, low toxicity and high biocompatibility compared with Lumidot™ CdSe/ZnS quantum dots, functionalized silica particles are superior alternatives for current bioimaging platforms.
